Karen Lorenz can’t help but talk about her joy for giving and how the Lord has been inviting her into significant moments of generosity over the past year. With a heart stirred for evangelism and restoration, she’s learning what it looks like to live a generous life and why her Giving Fund with National Christian Foundation (NCF) has been an integral part of that journey.
Karen’s fund is set up through NCF’s online giving experience called MyGiving, and it works like a charitable savings account. Instead of writing checks, Karen manages it all online, which gives her greater access to the ministries she likes to support, such as the Luis Palau Association.
Whenever she’s ready to support a charity, Karen logs into MyGiving, and she’s able to recommend grants. When she’s on the go, Karen uses her phone to make the most of a giving moment, especially if she’s learning about a new ministry project or cause. “I like the fact that I can log on wherever I am to make a grant so that I don’t forget,” she says.
At any point, Karen is able to view all of her giving in a single report, complete with comprehensive graphs of the gifts she’s made so far and throughout the year.
As part of her giving experience, she likes to look beyond her activity summary to check out what’s happening in the generosity community. She adds, “I do read stories and testimonies that grab my attention when I log on.” The stories bring a balance to what would otherwise be a set of numbers, and for Karen, that’s a significant move toward purposeful giving.
On a daily basis, Karen is learning that giving doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s full of purpose, joy, and it’s a reminder that the Lord is constantly walking alongside her as she experiences Him through the way she gives.
