As a finance professional, Laurel Numbers deals daily with questions about money and how best to use resources. After attending an Inspiring Generous Joy (now WDW Signature Event) event in Portland last year, she and another igniter started a Women’s Bible Study to continue the conversation around generosity and finances.
1) What drew you to get connected to Women Doing Well?
Katie Kavehrad, from NCF, really was my initial connection to WDW. Also, my team at work is already involved with Generous Giving and NCF so this was a natural attraction.
2) What is a word or phrase that describes your view of giving before encountering the biblical message of generosity?
Legalistic
3) What is one key way that WDW has helped you progress in your generosity journey?
Materialism and greed are sneaky and subtle. Keeping the topic on the proverbial “front burner” in my own life keeps me on track. The video from Tim Keller has been especially helpful to me.
4) How have you seen God move in your city and community post the Inspiring Generous Joy (now WDW Signature Event) event?
I am involved in an ongoing Bible study focused on the topics of money, fear vs. faith, generosity, etc. This group came about because of the Inspiring Generous Joy (now WDW Signature Event) event in Portland last year and it continues to keep the topic on that “front burner”. |
